The Musica Nostra female ensemble was formed in 1994 from students of the Department of Music at the Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, which has been the host institution of the choir ever since. At present, several of the 30 singers are still at university, others have already graduated from higher education. The main aims of the female chorus include the high quality interpretation and popularisation of early and contemporary music. They have performed and recorded world premieres of numerous compositions. The ensemble has already made five CD-recordings.with musics from different ages.
Since its foundation, Musica Nostra Choir has won prestigious awards at international competitions of the highest rank, such as Arezzo (Italy), Tours (France), Marktoberdorf (Germany), Maribor (Slovenia), Bad Ischl (Austria) Neuchatel (Switzerland) Bratislava (Slovakia), Namestovo (Slovakia) Debrecen (Hungary) Pécs and Budapest.
The ensemble was founded by Zsuzsánna Mindszenty DLA, conductor and artistic director, and ass. professor at the Department of Music at University ELTE-Budapest, president of the Association of Hungarian Choirs and Orchestras-KÓTA.She regularly teaches the Kodály-method in Europe and in the USA, and serves as jury member at international choir competitions. She has several times received the ARTISJUS-award (artistic award in contemporary musics), and in 2003 she received the Ferenc Liszt award (State award for high level artistic activity).
The piano accompanist is Bernadett Szekér, graduated at the Academy of Music Ferenc Liszt as a music teacher, choir conductor (2007.) and pianist (2009.) She is the vice director of the Music School in Budaörs.
