The World Youth Choir (WYC) is a remarkable educational and social experience at the highest artistic level, aimed at talented young singers between the ages of 17 and 26, from all over the world. With the help of our patrons and a local host, each year a session of the programme is organised in different country. The session takes place over the course of 3 weeks, during which the young musical talents that compose the WYC rehearse for up to ten days and then tour in selected locations, under the direction of renowned conductors. Artistically, it is a unique experience for young singers to develop their musical and vocal talents by performing challenging repertoires and interacting with world-class conductors. Socially speaking, the World Youth Choir contributes to the raising of new generations of “Global Citizens” by having young musicians of different cultures living and touring together, creating a unique school of understanding between different cultures, people, music and traditions.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the World Youth Choir (WYC), France will host the 2019 WYC Summer Session in the southern region of Occitanie, from mid-July to early August. The ten days of rehearsals will take place in Millau or Saint Affrique. The concert tour will take the 2019 WYC to the International Festival of Sacred Music/World Music at Sylvanes Abbey, at the World Coral Expo in Lisbon and will end at the Choralies festival in Vaison-la-Romaine.
